TEXAS COURT DISMISSES VIOXX LAWSUIT
A Texas court recently granted Merck’s motion for summary judgment to dismiss a lawsuit over the withdrawn painkiller Vioxx, reports Reuters. In the original suit, the Texas Attorney General’s Office accused Merck & Co. of violating the state Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act. At least 12 other states had filed similar lawsuits against the drug maker.
