La Salle University Settles Sports Injury Case

La Salle University has agreed to pay $7.5 million to settle a lawsuit filed on behalf of a former football player, Preston Plevertes,  who was left with a severe brain injury during a 2005 game.

According to the lawsuit, La Salle University did not properly care for the player after he suffered a concussion a month before the game in which the brain injury occurred.   Plevertes aggravated brain injury occurred after a punt return play and a collision with an opposing player.

An attorney for Plevertes says he now requires 24-hour care for treatment of his brain injury.
