GROUPON SUBSIDIARY’S PASSWORDS & USER NAMES EXPOSED
Groupon’s subsidiary, Sosasta.com, published its user database on the Internet and it was indexed Google. As a result, over 300,000 users’ e-mail addresses and passwords were available to the public.
The database was discovered by Daniel Grzelak when he performed a simple Google search using keywords including “password” and “gmail”. Grzelak developed a website that allows users to search a database to determine whether their email and passwords have been compromised. The website is shouldichangemypassword.com.
