EXXON SETTLES FALSE CLAIMS ACT SUIT FOR $32 MILLION
Mobil Natural Gas and affiliates, have agreed to pay $32 million to settle a False Claims Act lawsuit charging the company with knowingly cheating on royalties owed for pumping natural gas from federal and American Indian leases between 1988 and 1999. Mobil merged with Exxon to become ExxonMobil in November 1999.
