Alabama Woman Wins $9.45 Million Prempro Jury Verdict
A Philadelphia jury awarded $9.45 million to an Alabama woman. The plaintiff was diagnosed with breast cancer after she took Pfizer’s (Wyeth’s) hormone replacement drug, Prempro. The jury verdict included $3.25 million in compensatory damages and $6 million in punitive damages. The verdict also provided for $200,000 for her husband in loss of consortium damages.
According to Philly.com,. 6 million women took Prempro to treat hormone loss symptoms such as hot flashes and mood swings. Appromatley 8,00 users of Prempro have filed lawsuits against Wyeth.
