AIRLINE LAWSUIT, PASSENGERS ALLEGE MERGER WILL CREATE MONOPOLY
A group of airline passengers have filed a lawsuit seeking to stop the merger of United Airlines and Continental Airlines Inc. The lawsuit claims that the merger is an attempt to form a monopoly, and would lead to higher prices and less services for the customer. United offered to purchase Continental in May in a $3 billion at-stock deal, but the merger must still be approved by the Department of Justice.
