$600 MILLION CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT WITH COUNTRYWIDE
Countrywide Financial Corp has agreed to a $600 million settlement in a lawsuit filed by shareholders. The lawsuit contended that the company “fraudulently concealed its mounting risks as it and other lenders embraced ever-looser standards during the housing boom.” The settlement doesn’t cover investments in mortgage-backed securities sold by Countrywide, the Los Angeles Times reports.
